TACOMA – The Sedro-Woolley Cubs capped a dominating day during which they posted four straight shutouts with an impressive 10-0 victory over Bainbridge Island in the 3A state softball championship game.
All four Sedro-Woolley wins were webcast live on SkagitRadio.com, with Jon Jensen providing play-by-play of the first two games and Mike Leeper calling the semi finals and state championship game. Jensen had a prior sports broadcasting commitment that prevented him from calling the two evening games and we thank Leeper for his clutch performance that allowed us to webcast the night games.

TACOMA – The Sedro-Woolley Cubs exited the WIAA State 3A Fastpitch Tournament at the hands of Union High School of Camas, who overcame a 2-0 Sedro-Woolley lead in the bottom of the sixth, scoring four runs on their only three hits of the game, to win 4-2.
Sedro-Woolley’s offense came from Wendy Ringhouse, who knocked in Anna Gallagher (running for Ashley Joneli) in the fifth, and Maddie Lynch-Crumrine, who tripled and was driven in by Holly Hawkins’ single in the sixth.
The Titans scored all of their runs in the sixth on a single by Alex Cline, a double from Jamie Henderson, a double by Lindsay Sasse, a two base error, and a sacrifice fly to center from Mariah Dawson.
Two critical errors played a major part in the big inning for the Titans – a pop fly between the pitchers circle and third base that dropped for a two base error and an ill conceived throw to third after a wild pitch that went into left field and allowed a run to score.
Bailey Brewer gave up three hits and struck out 11 in the losing effort and smacked a double to deep left field in the fourth but was stranded after Union’s Maria Dawson struck out the next three batters.
The Cubs are poised for a return trip to State next year as all of their starters except senior Wendy Ringhouse will be back to play for the blue and white.

SEDRO-WOOLLEY- Cubs’ ace Bailey Brewer remained undefeated (7-0) in striking out 17 Lady Tigers as Sedro-Woolley took over sole possession of the Northwest Conference lead with a 5-1 win over Burlington-Edison in fastpitch softball Tuesday at Janicki Field.
Sedro-Woolley catcher Cheyenne Best put the Cubs ahead in the first inning when she scored all the way from first base on a bunt by Wendy Ringhouse that was misplayed by the Tigers. The miscue was one of an uncharacteristic four B-E errors.
Cubs SS Maddie Lynch-Crumrine’s RBI double was part of a three-run fifth inning that gave Sedro-Woolley a 5-0 lead. Best was 2-3 with an RBI and two runs. Holly Hawkins added two hits and a walk for the Cubs.
Jessica Tingley drove-in her sister Rachel with the lone Burlington-Edison run in the sixth inning as the sisters had two of the Tigers’ three hits. B-E starting pitcher Lindsay Dawson struck out eight but was victimized by the four errors in suffering the loss.
With both teams entering the game undefeated in NWC play, Sedro-Woolley remains the only team with a perfect record in the conference (8-0, 13-2 overall) and is ranked #8 in the state 3A rankings.
Burlington-Edison fell to 7-1 in conference (11-4 overall) but the Tigers are still the top 2A team in the three-classification Northwest Conference.
