LA CONNER – The heavy gusts of wind barely outweighed the scoring of the Orcas Island Vikings as they blew away the La Conner Braves 51-0 in their final Northwest B League match-up Thursday afternoon in La Conner.
The Vikings utilized the wind at their backs as they exploded for a pair of short-yardage touchdowns by Jacob Hansen and Tyler Nigretto.
Sophomore Viking quarterback Robby Padbury barged in with a keeper in the second quarter and Hansen swept one in just at the tail end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter saw the Vikings loitering in the end zone with a pair of touchdowns by Michael Langworthy and one by Henri Bredouw.

EASTSOUND – Using a combination of clock control offense and suffocating defense, the Orcas Island Vikings downed the visiting Darrington Loggers, 26-0 Saturday afternoon in high school football webcast live on SkagitRadio.com
Jacob Hansen led the Vikings with touchdown runs of 68, 12 and 4 yards as Orcas Island accumulated over 270 yards of offense on the ground, chewing up the majority of the game clock. Darrington struggled to get on track offensively, as QB Johnny Loughnan threw for just 29 yards and the Darrington run game only mustered 67 yards on 25 carries.
The win moves Orcas Island to 3-2 on the year, with Darrington falling to 4-2 overall. Darrington moves on to visit Concrete next Friday night in a key league game that Kaleb Hart and Bud Ashe will webcast live on SkagitRadio.com. Orcas Island will host La Conner Saturday afternoon.
