We’ll again have live play-by-play of every Burlington-Edison Tigers game, with John Fasso and Scot Buchanan re-uniting in the broadcast booth, and we’ll also have a second weekly webcast that during the first three weeks of the season will feature either the Mount Vernon Bulldogs or Sedro-Woolley Cubs.

Kris Drake and Jay Alexander will provide play-by-play and commentary of Mount Vernon’s first game before becoming the “voices of the Cubs” with live coverage of seven of Sedro-Woolley’s last eight regular season games.

Beginning September 18th, we’ll further expand to three games every weekend, with Dan Giuliani and Wade Tonkin webcasting Mount Vernon Bulldog Football, then welcoming Kaleb Hart and Bud Ashe who will wrap up the Bulldogs season as well as games featuring the Concrete Lions, Darrington Loggers, and La Conner Braves.

We look forward to the upcoming season, which will kickoff this Friday night with our live coverage of Sedro-Woolley visiting Burlington-Edison, and Mount Vernon playing at Anacortes, with both games scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m., and our pre-game shows starting at 6:30 p.m here on SkagitRadio.com

LA CONNER – If the La Conner Braves baseball team is playing, it’s usually in a game shortened to five innings due to the 10-run rule.  All four of La Conner’s wins this season have been by at least 10 runs while five of their seven losses were by 10 runs or more, including the second game of  a doubleheader loss to Concrete Friday afternoon in Northwest 2B baseball.

The first game of the twin-bill was a rare La Conner game that wasn’t shortened by the ten run rule, as Concrete’s Trent Kitchen threw a two-hitter and struck out 15 Braves in leading the Lions to a 7-0 victory.

Game two was a much different story.  The 22-2 Concrete win was highlighted by the visitors scoring 10-runs with two outs in the  fourth inning.  Four Lions scored twice in the game, five had two hits or more, and five had more than two runs batted in during the lopsided win.

Concrete’s Seth Rauch got the win in the nightcap and shined at the plate for the Lions, ripping a double and a grand-slam in the fourth inning and finishing the game with five runs batted in.

With the two wins, Concrete is now 8-2 in conference play and 10-3 overall, while the losses drop La Conner to 3-6 in conference and 4-7 overall.

Braves boys and girls beat Concrete

by adminFebruary 4, 2009 Uncategorized

LA CONNER – Both teams started off cold, seemingly unable to get the ball in the basket. The second half proved to be a different game between the Skagit County Northwest 2B/1A League rivals as the La Conner Braves edged out the Concrete Lions 50-46 Tuesday night in La Conner. The Braves and the Lions [...]
