ANACORTES - Dylan Boe, the first batter of the game, blasted a leadoff home run to spark the Burlington-Edison Tigers past the Cedarcrest Red Wolves 4-3 to advance in the Northwest 2A District One baseball tournament at Volunteer Field in Anacortes Saturday afternoon. Tiger designated hitter Tyler McLeod drove in the winning run while Quinn Holt scored twice for Burlington-Edison. Cole Whited hit a single and a double with one RBI for the Tigers – both base hits bounding past the Cedarcrest defense all the way to the outfield wall.
Sophomore Reid Perry started the game for the Tigers and pitched just three innings and gave up two runs. Dylan Lloyd picked up the win for the Tigers with four innings of work. Lloyd, also a sophomore, escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the fifth inning, and gave up only one run on a passed ball.
Travis Cook went the distance for the Red Wolves, picking up the loss and allowing four runs on seven hits and two errors. Cook struck out 11 and walked only two.
The Tigers came into the tournment as the Northwest Conference No. 3 seed with Cedarcrest the No. 2 out of the Cascade Conference of Snohomish county 2A high schools. Burlington-Edison will advance in the winners bracket and will play the Sehome Mariners on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. right here on SkagitRadio.com
Cedarcrest will play a loser out game against Granite Falls Tuesday at 3 p.m.
