ANACORTESFor the second day in a row, the Anacortes Seahawks took advantage of Tiger mistakes late in the game to defeat the Burlington-Edison Tigers – this time 6-5 in a Northwest Conference matchup Tuesday evening in Anacortes.

Trailing 5-4, Anacortes’ Hayden Knight led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a ground ball that bounded off the glove of Tiger first baseman Zach Livingston while moving to his right to field the ground ball. The next Seahawk batter Jackson Kirkpatrick singled, moving Knight to third. Just two pitches into the count on Casey Lloyd, Knight scored on a passed ball that bounced under the glove of Tiger catcher Dylan Boe to tie the score 5-5 as Kirkpatrick moved to second base. Lloyd then smacked an RBI single up the middle to score Kirkpatrick and give the Seahawks their first lead of the game 6-5.

Burlington-Edison quickly put the winning run on base with a Quinn Holt walk followed by an Ian Capron bunt single, advancing Holt to third. Capron was thrown out stealing second base for the second out. Anacortes’ fourth pitcher of the game, Hayden Knight, then settled down and got Tyler McLeod to ground out and got the save by striking out Zach Livingston with Tiger runners on second and third.

Anacortes used Cory Campbell to start the game, who gave up four hits and four runs to the Tigers. Cody Addison relieved Campbell in the top of the fifth with the score 5-1 Tigers. Landon Macy pitched the sixth inning for the Seahawks trailing by one. Knight picked up the win after taking the mound in the seventh with the one-run lead.

Chris Vivanco started the game for Burlington-Edison, but left the game in the fifth with the lead. Dylan Lloyd relieved Vivanco, but Ian Capron came in to preserve the win in the sixth. Capron gave up two hits and two runs and took the loss for Burlington-Edison in their final regular season game.

Tiger bats blazed hot from the start as Burlington-Edison took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Dylan Boe, Quinn Holt and Tyler McLeod all reached base and scored for the Tigers. Ian Capron added a 355-foot home run to left-centerfield in the top of the third. Boe scored again in the fifth for the final Tiger run.

Anacortes’ Braiden Darling scored in the first and fifth innings after drawing a pair of walks. Casey Lloyd and Johnny Walker scored in the Seahawks’ fifth inning rally. Knight and Kirkpatrick both crossed the plate to tie and take the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning for Anacortes.

Burlington-Edison scored five runs on seven hits and three errors, while Anacortes tallied six runs on only five hits and three errors.
