Holloway and Stone take home the trophies on Thursday at Clay Cup Nationals

2010 clay cup logo_newDEMING – Night one of Deming Speedway’s Clay Cup Nationals is in the books with Clennon Holloway and Austin Stone standing victorious after the first night of action.

In the Advanced Toys for Trucks 1200 division, Clennon Holloway won his first main of the year thanks to a little luck on the last lap. After leading the first 24 laps, Holloway gave up the lead to Jason Bloodgood who had made a strong move on the outside of turn two to take the lead. Bloodgood looked to have the win sewed up when he collided with lapped traffic on the final turn of the final lap, spinning out and handing the victory to Holloway.

Thursday night was a learning experience for Visalia, California’s Austin Stone in the Speedmart PMP division. On his first trip to Deming Speedway, Stone took the lead from fellow Californian Dylan Black on the 21st lap after moving his car all around the 1/6 clay mile oval looking for the optimal groove. Once he found it, it was off to the races for the youngster as he claimed his first Deming Speedway win.
