DEMING – Brock Lemley and Reece Goetz are the 2010 Deming Speedway Clay Cup Champions. In the Advanced Toys for Trucks 1200 division, Lemley and Eric Drake had an absolutely incredible back and forth drive over the final eight laps of the A Feature. Lemley assumed control of the race early, using the high groove to pilot his Little Caesar’s sponsored #10 around the high side of the track. Drake ran him down as Brock entered traffic and briefly took the lead from him from lap 16-19. Lemley got it back on lap 20 with Drake, Tom Waggoner and Aaron Fell in tow. Lemley continued to hold point until a lap 32 restart bunched the field. On the restart, Drake found moisture on the bottom of the racetrack and made his move, beating Brock to the line as they took the white flag. Lemley, a native of nearby Bellingham, WA, was not shaken though, as he powered his car off the high groove and used a slower car as a basketball style pick to keep Drake at bay en route to winning his fourth Clay Cup title and second in a row. The win paid Lemley a cool $5,000. Drake finished second and Aaron Fell was third. Tom Waggoner won the match race. Erik Ryason won the B Feature.

Where the 1200 main was a slobber-knocker of a race, the Speedmart PMP 600 race was very one sided. 15 year old Reece Goetz of Snohomish, WA led all 40 laps of the main event, picking up the biggest win and payday of his young career. Goetz pocketed $7,500 for his efforts. After winning the match race, Goetz shot out to an early lead and was never seriously challenged as he held an almost full straightaway lead for the duration of the main event. Dustin O’Brien enjoyed his career best Clay Cup finish with a second place performance, and young Chase Schmidt took a career best third place finish to round out the podium. Travis Senter, who won the long haul award after flying in from Osceola AR, was the B Feature winner. Cody Broulett won the C Main.

Thanks guys for your great broadcast at Clay Cup the last two nights. It has been great listening to it all as I was unable to come up for it. I will be listening again tonight and rooting for my brothers car, Brian Andrews #10 with Kyle Johnson driving. Again for the minimual fee that you’ve charged has been well worth it, I even wanted to give more but it wouldn’t let me. So loud and clear down here in southwest Florida sounds like I could be sitting there!!!
Thanks again
Patty Andrews
