MOUNT VERNON – Bailey Brewer was unhittable with her sinker after the first inning, striking out 15 Mount Vernon Lady Bulldogs enroute to a 5-2 Sedro-Woolley win Tuesday afternoon in NWC fastpitch softball.
Brewer shined at the plate for the Cubs, going 2-for-3 with a homerun and three runs batted in. She sent her round-tripper over the fence in left-center field while Cubs’ shortstop Maddie Lynch-Crumrine drove in three runs and added three hits.
Mount Vernon pitcher Devin Hiltz allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits, with two strikeouts with no walks. Ally Kutz added an RBI and Alicia Fine scored a run for the Bulldogs.
The ninth-ranked Sedro-Woolley Cubs go to 3-0 in conference play, while Mount Vernon fell to 1-1.
